I start with dreams of any kind. The ones we have at night. The ones we linger on in the day. The ones we strive for. That’s where my stories are born. Pursuing dreams has been the theme of my life and work.
From a young age, storytelling was a natural bent of mine. I pursued it through stage plays, singing, public speaking, poetry, Barbie-playing drama and, of course, voracious reading. At the apex of my biggest heartbreak, my therapy was writing a book that could hold my wildest fairytale imagination. That book didn’t find its footing, but it did open the gate for my waltz into authoring.
Life has been supremely beautiful. I was a teen bride (and happily so!), I’m a mother of four amazing goofballs, and, after zipping to and fro across the United States, have found myself living an absolute dream life in Tokyo, Japan. These things certainly bring richness to my writing, but the reason isn’t because I got to live this way; it’s because I’ve come to appreciate the brilliance of life no matter where it takes me.
And, if I may say so, I owe every word, letter, jot, and tittle to my savior, Jesus. Gotta give credit where it’s due, you know?
